“… the LORD will put you at the head, not at the end, and you will always be on high, and never below.” (Deuteronomy 28:13-14) Arid Israel had previously suffered from water scarcity, but now they have gained peace of mind about water resources. Although Israel's use of desalination is well known, it is not known that the country has also revolutionized its water recycling system to supply 25% of its water. At the heart of Israel's water reclamation efforts is the country's largest facility, the Shafdan wastewater treatment plant, designated by the United Nations as a model plant, which treats 97 million GPD of municipal wastewater from Tel Aviv area. Israel's pipeline network spans the entire country, connecting different regions and allowing for quick distribution of excess water when needed. With a focus on agricultural irrigation, almost 90% of Israel's wastewater is now reused for agricultural irrigation, about four times more than any other country in the world. It's a remarkable achievement and it's not just for Israel. Israeli companies are helping to save water around the world, from Africa to California to India. The output wastewater is treated to the secondary biological layer and the third soil layer, and then transported by pipeline to irrigate 60% of agriculture in the Negev desert. Today, Israelis are an international leader in wastewater reuse and water conservation. Thanks be to God that He is the One who gives Israel wisdom and wisdom that is superior in this area.
